Sandia Mountain Range

. . Wow! What a great staycation city. My kids and I visited Albuquerque last year in the spring. We had a fabulous staycation trip.

Our original destination was the Grand Canyon. However, we stopped in Albuquerque and liked it so much, we stayed there a full week, with a day trip to the Canyon. There is so much to do in Albuquerque, but most intriguing to us was the Sandia Mountain Peaks.

The mountain rises some 12,000 feet. When we were there, which was early April, it was 45 degrees at the base of the mountain. When we reached the top by Sky Car, it was 17 degrees and snowing. The odd thing to us, was that it didn’t really feel like 17 degrees. The humidity is quite different at the top of the mountain.

We also visited other parts of the city and thoroughly enjoyed the Native American heritage, lore and shops. When you go, you have to do the hot air balloon rides. It is a special ride. With a rich culture and heritage, Albuquerque offers numerous cuisines from Native American, to Mexican, to Southwest, and lots of other flavors. Also enjoy golf courses, museums, and spas.
